What to do in Benicàssim

If you haven’t yet discovered Benicàssim, our town and its surroundings offer a paradise that captivates thousands of tourists every year.
In Benicàssim, you can enjoy the sun and the beach 365 days a year. It’s a popular summer destination, but its appeal is growing throughout the rest of the year. Tourists who visit us in spring, autumn, and winter choose Benicàssim for its mild temperatures and the tranquility and relaxation offered by its landscapes during off-peak seasons.

In fact, the opportunity to enjoy leisurely strolls, restaurants, and a stress-free, uncrowded atmosphere is one of the main reasons why people visit us outside of the summer season.

Below we tell you about the highlights of our tourist environment.

Beaches of Benicàssim

The beaches of Benicàssim captivate all who visit.

Their fine sand, spaciousness, crystal-clear water, and wide range of services earn them top accolades year after year, including the Blue Flag and the Q for Tourist Quality.

The Hotel Tramontana is located near Torre San Vicente Beach and Els Terrers Beach, but you can also enjoy a stroll along the 7 kilometers of beaches that stretch along Benicàssim, from Voramar and Almadraba Beach to Heliópolis.

Desert de les Palmes

The Desierto de las Palmas Natural Park is the natural area adjacent to the town of Benicàssim, offering the unique combination of beach and mountains in one location.

Here you can enjoy numerous hiking and cycling routes, as well as visit the La Bartola Interpretation Center, where you can learn more about the history and natural features of the area.

From this park, with the summit of Monte Bartolo reaching 708 meters in altitude, you can admire the breathtaking views of Benicàssim and the Mediterranean Sea, even catching a glimpse of the Columbretes Islands, which are also accessible when visiting Benicàssim.

Route of Las villas

From the Tower of San Vicente, you can enjoy the wonderful Bernat Artola and Pilar Coloma promenade, almost 2 kilometers long. Alongside it, you can admire the beautiful and relaxing views of Torre San Vicente, Almadraba, and Voramar beaches on one side, and the spectacular villas built in the early 20th century on the other.

These villas were built by Valencian bourgeois families who discovered Benicàssim as a beach and health destination, and who brought fame to the town, also known as the “Biarritz of the Levante.”

Greenway

The old railway line has been transformed into this wonderful greenway connecting the towns of Oropesa del Mar and Benicàssim.

Along its 5.5 kilometers, you can stroll or exercise amidst lush vegetation and the majestic Mediterranean Sea. Along the way, you’ll also find the Torre Colomera and the Torre de la Corda, watchtowers that, together with the Torre San Vicente, protected the coast of the province of Castellón from pirate and corsair attacks.

Culture

If you enjoy cultural leisure, in Benicàssim you can visit exhibition halls, libraries on the sea and cultural events such as the Benicàssim Belle Époque, an event held in September with a journey to the beginning of the 20th century when the wonderful villas that line the seafront were built and where the great splendor of the Valencian bourgeoisie was experienced.

Festivals

If you enjoy live music and a few days at the beach, Benicàssim is the perfect holiday destination.

In fact, thousands of visitors come every year to enjoy performances by some of the most renowned bands on the national and international scene.

Benicàssim has established itself as a festival destination, hosting events like FIB, Rototom Sunsplash, SanSan Festival, and the Blues Festival, among many others.

Patron Saint Festivities

If you want to experience the traditions and festivals of Benicàssim, you can enjoy culture, music, gastronomy, and unique events that we celebrate in our town twice a year.

Festivities of Sant Antoni Abad and Santa Águeda. These are celebrated during the week of January 17th, a local holiday honoring the patron saint of Benicàssim and animals, Saint Anthony Abbot. Highlights of these days include bonfires, the distribution of coquetas (a traditional Benicàssim sweet), bull runs, and Paella Day, recognized as a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest of the Valencian Community.

Festivities of Santo Tomás de Villanueva. These are celebrated during the week of September 22nd, a holiday in honor of the patron saint of Benicàssim, who gave his name to our church when the town was founded in 1776.

Enjoy tourism throughout the province of Castellón

Besides Benicàssim, you can visit other beautiful and historic towns throughout the province of Castellón, such as Peñíscola, Morella, Vilafamés, and Vall d’Uixó, with its famous caves and the longest navigable underground river in Europe.
